This is all done by hand. One day when launchpad properly supports using git for packaging, this will likely be automated, likely in reverse, as in we work in the git repo, and launchpad creates the source package from it.

Thanks, since Pulse 6 is in experimental, I guess there is no hurry to add patches to it until it enters unstable, likely post Jesse release.
