Bug#833637: pulseaudio does not detect hdmi output
Klitos G
desmondgargl at hotmail.com
Sun Aug 7 11:40:55 UTC 2016
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 9.0-1.1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
Probably after an upgrade, gnome-settings stopped seeing the hdmi sound output.
Alsa seems to show the device
$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC3234 Analog [ALC3234 Analog]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
if I try manually playing a wav file with aplay It does play and I do hear the
sound through my TV's speakers and I get the following output
$ aplay -D plughw:0,3 cartoon004.wav
Playing WAVE 'cartoon004.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 44100 Hz,
Mono
Unfortunately pacmd does not show the device
$ pacmd list-sinks | grep -e 'name:' -e 'index'
* index: 0
name: <alsa_output.1.analog-stereo>
also on pavucontrol I get only "Built-in Analog Stereo" in output devices and
on Configuration I get "No cards available for configuration".
