Package: pulseaudio
Version: 12.0-1
Severity: normal
Hello maintainer!
LADSPA plugins can no longer be loaded. Here is a command that used to
work (but I'm not sure when it stopped working):
| pacmd load-module module-ladspa-sink sink_name=binaural sink_master=alsa_output.usb-SteelSeries_SteelSeries_Siberia_350-00.analog-stereo plugin=bs2b label=bs2b control=700,4.5
The log output:
| Jul 11 18:54:10 teapot pulseaudio[4855]: [pulseaudio] ltdl-bind-now.c: Failed to open module bs2b.so: bs2b.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
| Jul 11 18:54:10 teapot pulseaudio[4855]: [pulseaudio] module-ladspa-sink.c: Failed to load LADSPA plugin: file not found
| Jul 11 18:54:10 teapot pulseaudio[4855]: [pulseaudio] module.c: Failed to load module "module-ladspa-sink" (argument: "sink_name=binaural sink_master=alsa_output.usb-SteelSeries_SteelSeries_Siberia_350-00.analog-stereo plugin=bs2b label=bs2b control=700,4.5"): initialization failed.
The strace output:
| read(36, "load-module module-ladspa-sink sink_name=binaural sink_master=alsa_output.usb-SteelSeries_SteelSeries_Siberia_350-00.analog-stereo plugin=bs2b label=bs2b control=700,4.5\n", 1024) = 170

The author tried to play some trick with macros and that seems to have
turned LADSPA_PATH into the string literal "LADSPA_PATH" rather than
the -DLADSPA_PATH value from the makefile:
| #define QUOTE_MACRO(x) #x
| if (!(e = getenv("LADSPA_PATH")))
| e = QUOTE_MACRO(LADSPA_PATH);
| #undef QUOTE_MACRO
Maybe removing the macro will fix it.
A workaround for users is to add "export LADSPA_PATH=/usr/lib/ladspa"
before starting pulseaudio, e.g. in /usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11.
