I got turned on to this package by a nice blog post:

It would be nice if the package contained the information in that
post, in condensed form, in /usr/share/doc/pulseaudio-equalizer/. In
particular:

To try it:

$ pactl load-module module-equalizer-sink
$ pactl load-module module-dbus-protocol
$ qpaeq

To get qpaeq to work without the above after a restart:

$ echo "load-module module-equalizer-sink" >> /etc/pulse/default.pa
$ echo "load-module module-dbus-protocol" >> /etc/pulse/default.pa

It would also be nice if there were a qpaeq.desktop file.
