Bug#925311: [pulseaudio] pulseaudio does not switch automatically to headset microphone when plugged in

I've got a laptop  (Dell XPS 13) according to lspci the audio chip is:
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (rev 21)
using following module: snd_hda_intel

My problem since quite some time is that if I plug in a headset into the 
audio jack, pulseaudio correctly changes the output device to "Headphone 
(plugged in)", but the input device stays "Internal Microphone", I have 
to set it manually to "Headset Microphone", what I usually forget until 
somebody complains about the speech quality of my "phone".
I've just switched to buster in the hope the problem would be solved 
here. but it isn't.
When I use a usb headset, pulseaudio changes correctly.
