Bug#960532: pulseaudio: Pulseaudio reselect HDMI output with each application
José Antonio Jiménez Madrid
donjosemadrid at gmail.com
Wed May 13 17:25:52 BST 2020
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 12.2-4+deb10u1
Severity: normal
Hi,
I upgraded yesterday to Buster. After upgrade sound stopped to work. I purged
timidity and now I can select the output between my two audio devices. My lspci
output is:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio
Controller
02:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GP107GL High Definition Audio
Controller (rev a1)
PROBLEM: If I set the output the Intel device it works for one application,
when I try to open other application the output is set to NVIDIA HDMI.
Playing with the sound preferences, when I am choosing between the different
outputs of my Intel device, it suddenly change to the HDMI output. If I reset
the Intel device I cannot hear any sound, so I have to close the application
(music player as example) to open it again.
It would be very nice that pulseaudio does not change the sound output I have
set to utilise. Also, I would appreciate that pulseaudio remember the sound
settings between reboots and does not change automatically to HDMI.
I removed my local pulseaudio configuration files, but the situation is not
fixed. System configuration files are the provided by package. I have touched
nothing.
At this moment I have turn off the HDMI output to prevent to be automatically
selected when I change between applications.
If you need more information, I will be very happy to provide logs, config
files, to perform test,....
Thank you so much for your great work !!
Sincerely,
Jose
