Sound broke on my debian testing Lenovo w540 laptop after making several
upgrades last week. Sound had been working fine before the upgrades. I
reverted all of the upgrades but it did not fix the problem. The first I
noticed something was wrong was when my sound output showed as dummy output.
The microphone still worked at that point. Now nothing shows for output or
input devices. pavucontrol just spins and says Establishing connection to
PulseAudio, Please wait... but nothing else ever happens.
