Bug#1045764: pulseaudio: pactl cannot show information in JSON format
Konstantinos Pachnis

Package: pulseaudio
Version: 16.1+dfsg1-2+b1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
According to pactl manual page and PulseAudio release notes
(https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/16.0/) pactl
can show information in JSON format.
Unfortunately, pactl regarding setting the format to json or text, it
always shows information using the same format.
For example, the commands:
pactl -f json get-sink-volume @DEFAULT_SINK@
pactl -f text get-sink-volume @DEFAULT_SINK@
will produce the same output:
Volume: front-left: 45180 / 69% / -9.69 dB, front-right: 45180 / 69% / -9.69 dB
balance 0.00
My understanding is that when the format is set to json, the output
should be something similar to:
{
"Volume": {
"front-left": [
45180,
"69%",
"-9.69 dB"
],
"front-right": [
45180,
"69%",
"-9.69 dB"
],
"balance": "0.00"
}
}
Thanks in advance,
-kp
