Can you provide any references (either to the risk of it being yanked,
or the maintainer looking for help)? I certainly do not have time, but
there are two big issues with the rails packages that I really want to
fix. 

In the past I've discussed with Gunar and Lucas about the possibility of
bringing the rails packages into the pkg-ruby-extras team maintenance,
and they both thought that was a good idea, but the rails maintainer had
not responded to these ideas.
