We're scaling to over 500 clients with stored configs by using ApacheMQ to
offload the configuration storing to puppetqd with 0.24, but we also found
(at least in 0.24) that it wouldn't scale reasonably without doing that.

The sites I know of that are larger than us aren't yet using stored
configs.
