I agree.
I'll merge and push a new squeeze-2.6.1 branch to alioth with 2.6.1 from
upstream, and with the 2.6.0 packaging.
After this, I guess we'll need to ask debian-release nicely. We would
need something like:
,----
| We wish to upgrade puppet from 2.6.0 to 2.6.1 in squeeze. The reason
| for this is that 2.6.0 contains too many upstream bugs.
|
| We will keep the packaging currently in use for 2.6.0.
|
| Puppet 2.6.1 is primarily a bug fix release, the changelog at
| http://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/blob/2.6.1/CHANGELOG lists a
| number of bugs affecting usability.
|
| We have cherry-picked a number of commits from 2.6.1 to 2.6.0 to fix
| upstream bugs, but a large number of bugs in 2.6.0 are still unfixed
| in the debian package. Cherry-picking the rest of the upstream bug
| fixes, if possible, would create a Debian version of puppet that
| differs from both 2.6.0 and 2.6.1, and would be harder to support.

Does this look right? Is it enough? Any other points that might help?
