It passed its autopkgtests, and interactive use also worked. I'd say
"yes".

Apart from a distinct personal dislike of having to deal with
/etc/default/* in the future, I say the patch will solve the bug just
fine.

Assuming patches are sufficient, I should be able to upload tomorrow,
unless someone else have time to do it tonight.
