Since I'm not an emacs user I can't comment on those unfortunately.

the last commit in this repository is dated 2011. it would indicate that
it's not being maintained at all.

This one as of today has had a commit 13 days ago so it is still alive
and well. I'm trying it out now to see how it compares. so far at least
this syntax file has fixed tab stops to be 2 spaces wide, which fits a
lot better with current best practices.

there's no syntax file for EPP templates in the rodjek plugin. there's
also no special colouring for argument types. So I guess puppet 4 syntax
was not added to that plugin. fwiw it's only a handful of details that
are missing, but the bulk of the syntax highlighting should make sense.
