Bug#438920: python-debian: [debfile] @staticmethod SyntaxError w/ python2.3

Package: python-debian
Version: 0.1.5
Severity: normal

I happened to have an old version of python installed and got this error.
It doesn't seem to cause any harm - but perhaps there's a way to tell the
package not to try compiling for <= python2.3?
