In my case this was a pure 686 CPU with kernel, userland, and
everything from i386 -- no amd64 stuff (hard- or software) anywhere
close :)

I also have some vague memories about Storable, but more about
5.10.1->5.12.3 upgrade issues (with existing data or something).
