Did you build from master/HEAD or from the 2015.09 tag? The former
failed for me (don't remember how), the second worked.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Well, the experience with bundled stuff in perl5 was not that great

Hm, I guess they are still separate repos/tarballs/releases, so this
would mean bundling again?

Is there no tarball for rakudo-star (as in pure rakudo plus the other
stuff)?
