I wasn't aware of such problems…

… otherwise we could have envisioned catching up with upstream releases.
But that should have happened much earlier in the release cycle.

Doing that just weeks away from the release seems rather risky, esp.
given this package's track records when it comes to regressions (and the
impossibility to cherry-pick fixes).
