I think the BTS is smart enough nowadays that we could just close
bugs like these with -done and

or something like that. They should end up as 'from other branch' which
is pretty much the truth, and the submitter gets a proper notification.
I haven't been very systematic about old bugs in earlier 3.x packages,
some were cloned and others simply reassigned. We still have open bugs
against 3.4 that need treatment at some point; the lenny release might
be a good time, or otherwise a year after that when etch support ends.
