I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to respond to this.

Hmm, it looks like you have a different problem than the one that patch
is intended to fix (which is restricted to SelfService logins).

Can you let me know whether you get any odd error messages in the logs
when you reproduce this problem (perhaps turn up the log level)?

I will try asking on the rt-users list again if this problem still
occurs, but at the moment it seems extremely isolated (in lenny at
least) so I'm not sure quite where to go from here...
