Soname versions aren't only about newly added (or removed) symbols. It's
also (and potentially more importantly) about changes in *semantics* of
the exported functionality. I don't know if that's the case here (I
haven't checked) but I think it certainly makes sense to stick to
upstream. That said, *if* this change was wrong, we should let Tobi
know.
