I consider the experiment with the rust coreutils an interesting one,
and would like to support it when I can. However ...

... `truncate -s=-1 example.ref` does not seem to work with GNU
coreutils either?

$ truncate -s=-1 example.ref
truncate: Invalid number: '=-1'
$ truncate -s -1 example.ref
$ ls -l example.ref 
-rw-rw-r-- 1 terceiro terceiro 0 Nov 27 10:58 example.ref
