Package: libgit2-dev
Version: 0.25.1.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Now that the stretch freeze is over, please could you update libgit to 0.25.1
(or 0.26 even) and do a library transition?

We'd like to update rustc and cargo soon, without the embedded libraries. I
took a brief look at the cargo source code and believe it ought to work with
either 0.25.1 or 0.26, there is one breaking change [1] but cargo does not use
that functionality.

If you want to upload 0.25.1, I'd suggest the version "0.25.1.0" so that it
sorts ahead of the current version "0.25.1+really0.24.6-1".

X
