I am sorry for causing work and frustration on your side. I had thought
that I had fixed the test upstream, but I had neglected to double-check
on an actual big-endian porterbox.

Looking at the commit history, it is unclear to me where the belief that
things were fixed had come from. In any case the test has now been fixed
so that it passes on big-endian and little-endian architectures. I'll
add this commit to the rust-laurel package.

Also, thanks for reminding me that looking at buildd output is not
enough.
