Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to weasel out of it and justify but explain what happened, I do agree with you fwiw. Although *five months uninstallable* sounds quite bad, this was specifically because of the freeze. Since neither this package nor arf-strings was detrimental for anything, I didn't want to trigger several round of effective chain reactions in the rust world just for that. But in hindsight I should've filed an RC bug. I remember specifically choosing not to, since it was not in testing and would not migrate either.

You're free to follow that workflow, but I certainly will not be doing that unless I have very clear reasons (I do agree that "freeze" is a good reason).
