But removing the mapping config in virt-manager allows it to start...?

 From a running VM with the old working 1.10 build, I can see this in 
the process list:

Is that syntax perhaps no longer valid for the rust version?

Seems unlikely that virtiofsd and libvirt could get out of sync with 
each other to the level of introducing breaking changes.
