On the contrary, I think build-profiles are great and it was great that you 
introduced them.
I think we are just failing at defining/documenting what we use right now (to 
land an acceptable package in NEW) without mixing what we hope to have in a 
"more stable" future.

As this is (I think) the last blocker for alpha2, I'll try to formulate a 
short proposal in a separate thread and once we have a consensus commit the 
related changes.
