Hi,
Based on some discussions between RichiH and the guy who does the
Ubuntu packaging (Corey), it has been suggested that the debian
directory (currently used for ubuntu packaging) move out of upstream
and be managed as we are managing our packaging - by merging new
releases in to a debian branch.
It has also been suggested that the debian and ubuntu packaging move
closer together and probably be kept as two branches in the one
repository.
A third suggestion is that the repository be hosted on github.
I think that the first and second suggestions are positive, whilst I
am very slightly against the later suggestion (github hosting). This
reluctance is really only due to inertia - I feel that github would be
more visible than alioth, but we already have the repository at alioth
and it is debian infrastructure.
I am very interested in hearing what other people think.
Thanks very much in advance,
Joe
