[Pkg-salt-team] next release of salt in debian and backporting

Hi Martin,

Great to see you back again.

Also, thanks very much for uploading 0.15.1 to backports.

0.15.3 is in the repository at the moment, which we could either
upload or wait for 0.16.0 which I believe is due soon.

The advantage/major change with 0.15.3 is that it depends on libzmq3
and so is much more reliable from a network perspective. This does
bring some challenges for backporting, as libzmq3 and python-zmq need
to be backported. I have discussed this with the relevant maintainers
and received some assistance with this. The repos where I have done
this are at [1].

Until now, I have had a bit of a chicken and egg situation, in terms
of needing to backport many packages all at once, but I think by
starting with 0.15.1, you may have solved this.

Is it best to upload these dependencies to backports first even though
they will not be used by anything until the next version of salt is
uploaded or do it all at once?

thanks,

Joe
