do you see any chance to also get this fix into the next stable point
release? We currently compiled the package ourselves, but I see the
risks in version numbering of either missing security updates, or
breaking important systems by accident.

I could start to argue about the severity I initially entered to be much
higher, because this bug has some really bad potential for remote
systems etc. - and the patch is small enough not to threaten any ABI
changes ;-)
