In this bug report, it is mentioned that the error message given by
smbpasswd when it can't connect to the smbd server is not suitable for
users.
I indeed fail to agree:
spongebob at mykerinos:~$ smbpasswd
Old SMB password:
New SMB password:
Retype new SMB password:
Error connecting to 127.0.0.1 (Connexion refusée)
unable to connect to SMB server on machine 127.0.0.1. Error was : SUCCESS - 0.
Failed to change password for spongebob
Except the fact that, just like all other messages from samba
utilities, these messages are not localized, I don't see anything not
user-friendly here.
So, I'm quite tempted to just close this bug report.
Without further notice, I'll just close the bug report as of May
15th...unless someone in the team (hint, hint) disagrees with me and
removes the usertags..:)
