No, the problem is that the kernel ignores the uid and gid that mount.cifs
passes it when using CIFS Unix extensions. Reassigning to the kernel, this
can't be fixed in the userspace tools.

I'm much more interested in having the issue in the kernel addressed so that
this isn't necessary. :)
