Maybe one like the attached diff, then?

I'm not sure that the dhcp handling is correct yet, I need to have another
look still; but by and large this seems to DTRT, aside from a problem with
three-way merging not doing something sensible (reported as bug #456245).

So I guess keeping around the old copies of the file for a release cycle is
the right answer anyway, unless we really want to have a postinst script
filled with sed that's about twice as long as the smb.conf itself is...
