I've just tested this on a system running 2.6.18-4-amd64 on the client side,
with smbfs 3.0.25b-1+b1, and I'm not able to reproduce the problem you
describe.

If I mount the filesystem using mount -t smbfs with no uid= option, the
server uids are passed through.  If I mount it with a uid= option, the uid I
specify is how the files show up.

Can you give more details on how you're doing the mount, to be able to
reproduce the problem?
