Ok, I've looked at -2ubuntu1.2. The Samba source in this version is
identical to that from Debian's -6etch2; that means -6etch4 actually has
/more/ fixes for the security regressions than the Ubuntu version currently
does.
I've also tested now with both amd64 and i386, and neither shows this
problem for me.
Will wait for updates from your end.
