[Pkg-samba-maint] Problem with samba

Hi,

I think I found a bug in samba but it could also be me being dumb.
So I would like to ask you first, before submitting a bug.

Problem is that xcopy /s /e of a directory tree from XP/W2K3 fails
when the user logged on is not the (Unix) owner of the directories
even though I've set "dos filemode = Yes" on the share. Users are
members of the group that owns the files and directories and
group rights are forced to allow write (i.e. "create mask = 0660" and
"directory mask = 0770").
The smb.conf man page says on "dos filemode":
Enabling this parameter allows a user who has write access to
the file (by whatever means) to modify the permissions
(including
	ACL) on it.

Copying from explorer works.

After debugging it looks like the failure is in (re)setting the
permissions on the directories. Logs (level 11) and tcpdump available.

Should I report this as a bug or is this an error on my part (or maybe
an xcopy bug)?

Thanks in advance.

GRTNX,
RobJE
