Please provide the output of debconf-show, and the contents of your
/etc/samba/smb.conf file. Please also tell us what the previous version of
samba-common that you had installed was.
The fix for your configuration to make this crash go away is to edit
/etc/samba/smb.conf and remove the 'guest' part of the 'passdb backend'
line, but we need the above information first to understand how your system
ended up with this problem.
