Steve is not saying that you're imagining things. What he's saying is
that it is possible that the script that is being directly executed out
of /tmp is being executed by some subsystem that Samba depends on, in
which case it wouldn't be a bug in the Samba package.
Are you getting an error message that you can share with us?
