I like this "new" option which has indeed been quite ignored for a
long time and not receiving much attention, while it is indeed really
a useful one.

A first concern comes with the dedicated group name. Should we use
"smbshare" and then still advertise that obsolete acronym (SMB) which
is however known by nearly everybody?

Apart from that, I'd vote for this feature to be supported, yes. We
could also patch the smb.conf(5) manpage to mention what group we use
for this in Debian/Ubuntu/other CDD

Anyone feel like commenting on the usershares path that has been
proposed?
