When it comes at interaction with 2k8, I think that there's not much
we can do unless you can reproduce this with the package from unstable
(3.0.28a) or, even better, with the package in experimental
(3.2.0~pre2).

What would be nice is you to install the samba-dbg package, then
manually launch samba as "/usr/lib/debug/usr/sbin/smbd -F" and try to
reproduce the breakage.

Of course, on a production server, that might be tricky.
