Is the bug reproducible or did it happen only once ?

If you have samba-dbg installed, could you stop the samba server, then
manually launch /usr/lib/debug/usr/sbin/nmbd then
"/usr/lib/debug/usr/sbin/smbd -i"....then reproduce the problem

We would then need what actions are taken to reproduce the problem
and, finally the output of:

testparm -s /etc/samba/smb.conf

(please not the entire smb.conf.....doing as I suggest will remove all
options that have their default value)
