According to "Using Samba", "socket address" use is discouraged as
that option is meant for very specific cases.

I just reported upstream's bug #5950 for this to be better documented.

All this can anyway safely be summarized to "never blindly use
smb.conf options when you only have a rought idea of what they're
doing". The default settings are most often appropriate.
