Hi Benoît (and Merry Christmas...),

In Debian bug #495085, you reported an invalid pointer issue when
trying to mount a CIFS share on an etch machine where you were using a
self-compiled kernel.

Later on, you recompiled that same kernel and reported the issue was
still there.

However, we really suspect that the problem is local to your machine
more than specific to the samba package..... which is why we suggested
you to use the stock Debian kernel on that Etch machine.

However, you didn't follow up and this bug is still opened.

We really would like to get rid of it: either decide this is local to
yoru system and close it...and check this deeper.

So, could you really try to use the genuine Debian kernel on your Etch
machine (as I suggested : apt-get install linux-image-2.6.whatever).

Without news, we're afraid that we'll have no other option than
closing the bug.

Many thanks for your contribution.
