The package can be sponsored (if reaching the appropriate quality
level, of course) and this is actually a good way for you
to:
1) contribute
2) make your mind about hopefully trying to become a DD

If not done already, can you create an account for yourself on Alioth,
probably subscribe to the mailing list and mention us that acocunt's
name?
