If it were maintained, I would ask if you could list that under external 
resources on the debian package page.  It's a nice page.  But I think 
most people would have trouble finding such a specific problem in a long 
list of changes between 3.0.24 and 3.2.5.  (21 updates in this 
particular instance).


And I complete concur that messages during a major distribution upgrade 
would be infeasible.  And most likely lost in bulk of information.

At one point (after the failure), I looked for lenny upgrade warnings.  
A note on this page under section 5 would be useful.

Or is there a place within the debian package web page to place a link 
to "warning" messages for common red flags.  Not a detailed list of all 
changes, but things that repeatedly get falsely reported as bugs after 
an upgrade.  It would probably be more of a reactive list than 
proactive.  Get enough questions, add it to the list.
