[Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#547209: samba4: Conflicting provides in init.d script

Package:  samba4
Version:  4.0.0~alpha8+git20090912-1
Severity: important
User:     initscripts-ng-devel at lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: incorrect-provides

An archive wide check of the init.d script headers just reported that
the new samba4 package uploaded to Debian/unstable have conflicting
provides with the samba package.

This make it impossible to install both packages at the same time, and
to install one of the packages if the other was installed earlier and
have not been purged. I recommend changing the provides for the
samba4 script to samba4.

There are currently 2 scripts with a relation to the samba init.d
provide. This is cups and freeradius. The details can be found at
<URL:http://lintian.debian.org/~pere/test-20090917.log> and
<URL:http://lintian.debian.org/~pere/test-20090917-headers.log>.

It might be an idea to introduce a new virtual facilty for samba, see
<URL: http://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts/DebianVirtualFacilities >
for the details.
<URL: http://refspecs.freestandards.org/LSB_2.1.0/LSB-generic/LSB-generic/initscrcomconv.html >
documents the LSB header format. Some debian notes are available from
<URL: http://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts >.

Happy hacking,
