We can still ask for a freeze exception if you guys think that's the right
way to go. I think the release team well understands that new upstream
samba releases don't pose much risk of disrupting the freeze process.

They're aware in general that the Debian and Ubuntu support cycles are much
longer than the upstream support cycle; I don't remember if I talked to them
about 3.4 specifically at SambaXP, but my understanding is that they don't
have the resources upstream to provide longer support for older versions
anyway.
