Thank you for the bug report!  This confirms that we have a serious library
issue that will need sorting.

libwbclient0 doesn't depend on samba-common, and purging a package doesn't
remove the packages that it depends on - only the packages that depend on
/it/.  'apt-get autoremove --purge' after purging samba is the closest that
I think you can get.  (I don't know what the equivalent command is in
aptitude these days, sorry.)
