I'm using backports of these on my lenny home server (the
branches/samba/backports-unofficial/lenny-latest branch in SVN, which
we host on pkg-samba.alioth.debian.org).
We also tested them on the print server infrastructure I have at
Onera, without much harm (there we need good Win7 clients support).
Both are very simple setups:
- my home server is a standalone domain controller, without
LDAP. Clients are WinXP machines only. The server is a file and print server
- ONERA print servers are domain members in an NT4 domain (yes, I
still have NT4 machines at work), with clients ranging from very few
Win9x and NT4, a majority of W2K and XP machines and nearly no Win7 or
Vista.
I think that several users from the samba at lists.samba.org mailing list
are using these unofficial backports. Probably less are using the
experimental packages because most users run samba servers on lenny
machines. So far, we got ne big regression report.
