Keeping the maintenance of the two related packages close together so that
there's never any doubt about them being out of sync; having it as a
reminder in the right place that we need to drop the transitional package
at a later date.

Hmm, the output of that review doesn't seem to have been discussed here
before committing. I think the latest wording ("CIFS uses the SMB protocol")
is terrible and should be reverted (and discussed further). Will follow up
separately to the mail on this.
