Oh; looking at the last few messages, I see that there's another case where
this bug can occur - when using 'smbfs' as the filesystem type in /etc/fstab
instead of 'cifs'.  The only way to correct for this, AFAICS, is to drop the
mount.smbfs compatibility wrapper entirely.

If you're using smbfs in your /etc/fstab and are not happy with the
resulting behavior, please switch your entries over to 'cifs' which is what
you should use anyway now.
